This spring I decided to make myself a nice, compact bear gun that could go with me anywhere, all spring.

At just under 3,000 turkeys killed, I understand that I’ve been responsible for more turkeys meeting their demise than any human since those records have been kept. 

….in my dreams I would have owned this set up.  Flat out flat.  Flat out beautiful.

I believe that the Weaver K4 holds a special place in more hunters’ hearts than any riflescope that has ever been made…

I don’t always fall in love with anniversary or commemorative edition rifles, but when I do, they look like this.

Richard Collins matched this Weaver K6-60B with his Browning Model 1885 in 30-06 with a 26” tapered hexagon barrel for long range shooting.

After he shot his toe off due to the misfire of the 30.40 Krag, he promptly sold it and purchased a Savage 99F.

….We grade every scope for cosmetics and functionality. If the seal has failed we disassemble, interior clean, collimator check and nitrogen purge.

The rest of the day we were spoiled with constant small groups of ducks looking for a new place to set down.

That’s how it worked back then. My how times have changed.

Today though, on my 50th Birthday, I was hunting with my son using an old vintage build in the same area where I learned to hunt as a kid.
